II. The Hymn of Creation
Nankeinela, mighty maker,
Many peoples made for Kwadran--
Made to fill the starlit meadows
Fields and forests, hills and islands,
In the day the world was founded.
In the day the world was founded
Nankeinela set the Starfolk,
Loveliest of all creation,
Set above the Land of Starlight
There to order fate by music.
In the day the world was founded
Nankeinela made the cold drakes--
Salamanders, cold and gleaming,
Scales were shimmering with jewels,
Shining gems that burned at daybreak.
In the day the world was founded
Nankeinela, mankind loving,
Set them down amid green pastures,
Broad and fertile, good for grazing,
In the land of Dalian fathers.
Other creatures too the Maker
Made for joy he had at making--
Fish and birds and creeping serpents,
Lowing ox and leaping harkel,
Dazzling birds in gleaming plumage.
