III. Upon the Feast of Orusen

Orusena, first of fathers,
He whose name the Water’s children
Hymn in love, has come to battle.
Orusena comes to battle,
Challenges the yellow Serpent,
Disputes her right to worlds’ first waters—
Waters ever echo Starlight,
Sing the song of Kwaodran’s making.

Orusena comes to battle.
He has forged a mighty weapon:
Spearhead forged form Serpent’s armor
Makes from death a deadly weapon
To cleanse the cold and crystal fountain.
Now beside the flowing waters
Orusena wields his spear-shaft,
Strikes the Serpent, long and yellow.

Now our prayers we lend our father,
Pray with fair and blessed Hasanyah.
Now our might we lend his spear-stroke,
Strike the eldest foe of Children
Who long ago ere Lanenomen
Came to rest beside those waters
Slew the Stone-kings, eldest people.
Now avenge the Serpents’ venom.

We rejoice, the Water’s Children,
All rejoice to see the battle.
Orusena strikes the Serpent,
Sends her falling down to darkness!
Earth has swallowed faithless children,
Far beyond the World of Starlight
And the smile of gracious Heaven.
Today we sing the Serpent’s downfall!
