Eight verses.
Raos, Polestar, shining champion!
Mighty savior of our people!
It was you who, after battle,
Came to dying Lanenomen,
Healed his wounds, a homeland promised,
Sent him sailing over Ocean!
Shining Raos by desire
Nigh unto our ancient fathers
Drew, and warned them of the dangers
Which would come if Heaven’s edicts
All they spurned; but they refused him,
They ignored the Polestar’s warning.
To the North we look for comfort,
Far beyond the barren glaciers
To the realms of Lower Heaven,
Up the Stair which righteous heroes
Have ascended, to the Lotus,
To the Realm of Shining Raos.
Raos sits in Middle Heaven
Ruling all the Sons of Starlight.
There the mind of Nankeinela
He most knows, and loves Kwaodran,
Loves the wide realms Under Starlight,
With the Maker’s burning mercy.
By the love the Maker bears us
Raos came to ancient Feihoth,
Ancient Feihoth now abandoned,
So the Song of Middle Heaven
Was heard again by Feihoth’s children—
But they heeded not the music.
By the love the Maker bears us
Raos came to Lanenomen—
Lanenomen with the corpses
Of the dead and dying heroes
Wounded lay, of hope despairing.
Raos brought him hope and healing!
Raos, bring us hope and healing!
We are lying lost and wounded.
Lead us on to find a homeland,
Lead us on to Heaven’s promise
Where our hearts may hope to rule
Over souls in virtue founded.
In the North a light is shining,
Guiding North Star of our people.
Raos sits in Middle Heaven
Ruling all the Sons of Starlight.
He has love our ancient fathers
With the Maker’s burning mercy.
