Four verses.
Neralu and mighty Neras,
Brothers twain, beloved of father,
By the raving beasts of Orkon
Fell upon the rocky seashore.
Eons will not dim their memory—
Never will we cease to mourn them.
On the spattered, bloodstained beaches
Of the Island Ranhor founded,
There the two in press of battle
Held the rearguard of the monarch.
Fanhal, rescued, then awaited
What the shining Polestar showed him.
Fanhal raised a silver banner,
Seven swans in flight upon it.
Silver trumpets called for battle,
Then the Guardian burst upon them,
On the Horned Things, Orkon’s servants.
The King beheld the Polestar’s promise.
From the grave of mighty brothers
Ran the waters, cold and flowing:
Token of the will of Heaven
That their graves should ever after
Guard the highway to the Mountain,
Guard the paving-stones of Ranhor.
