Five verses.
Malfaloth the Silver Hunter
Nankeinela made to rule
Over seasons, days of harvest,
When the world was made unbroken,
Ere the southern Star’s rebellion
And the hateful theft of Vishnarr.
Long in hunting, sometimes wandering,
Sometimes wreathed in blackest midnight—
So the Hunter, yet his spearpoint
Ever searches for his foe-man.
When in mail of shining silver
He shall come, then dies the Darkness.
In that day the full moon shining
Red as blood will smite the Darkness,
Smite those stars who from the Heavens
Raos cast down Under Starlight,
Rending earth and breaking fountains,
They will go down into torment.
Let me not go down to torment—
I who joined them in rebellion.
Let the spear of Heaven’s Hunter
Like a silver moonbeam shining
Find my heart, and there illumine
All the darkness of my passions.
Then the rule of Deepest Heaven
Nankeinela will establish
In this world which, Under Starlight,
Malfaloth was set to rule
Ere the Southern Star’s rebellion
Or the making of the Dragons.
